The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - C. S. Lewis
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C. S. Lewis is Book 5 of The Chronicles of Narnia, a timeless children's fantasy adventure filled with magical islands, extraordinary creatures, friendship, courage and exploration. Featuring the original illustrations of Pauline Baynes, this classic Narnia story follows King Caspian, Lucy and Edmund Pevensie and their reluctant cousin Eustace Scrubb on an unforgettable voyage aboard the Dawn Treader.
Lucy and Edmund are staying with their unpleasant cousin Eustace Scrubb when a painting of a ship suddenly comes to life.
Within moments, the three children find themselves swept into the sea of Narnia and rescued by King Caspian and the crew of the magnificent Dawn Treader.
Caspian is sailing east in search of the seven lost lords of Narnia, who disappeared during the reign of his uncle Miraz.
What begins as a royal mission soon becomes a voyage far beyond familiar waters.
The travellers encounter mysterious islands, dangerous creatures, strange enchantments and places where the ordinary rules of the world no longer apply. Along the way they are joined by one of Narnia's bravest characters, the fearless talking mouse Reepicheep, whose dream is to sail farther east than anyone has ever travelled.
For Eustace, the journey becomes something more personal.
Selfish, difficult and constantly complaining at the beginning of the adventure, he experiences a dramatic transformation that becomes one of the most memorable episodes in the entire Narnia series.
C. S. Lewis combines classic fantasy, sea adventure, magical exploration and character development in a story about courage, redemption, friendship and the desire to discover what lies beyond the known world.
