Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead - Rick Riordan
Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan is Book 3 of the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard trilogy, bringing Magnus's action-packed Norse mythology fantasy adventure to an epic conclusion. Perfect for fans of Percy Jackson, Viking legends, magical quests and mythology-based children's fantasy, the final book sends Magnus and his friends on a desperate mission to stop Loki and Ragnarok.
Loki has escaped his chains and is preparing Naglfar, the legendary Ship of the Dead, for war.
With an army of giants and zombies at his command, the trickster god plans to sail against the gods of Asgard and trigger Ragnarok – the final battle that could destroy the Nine Worlds.
Magnus Chase and his friends are the only ones standing in his way.
Joined by allies including Samirah al-Abbas, Alex Fierro, Hearthstone and Blitzen, Magnus must travel across dangerous seas and through the worlds of Norse mythology to reach Loki before Naglfar is ready to sail.
Along the way, the group encounters angry sea gods, hostile giants, monsters and a terrifying fire-breathing dragon. Magnus also receives help from his cousin Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson, creating an exciting connection between the Magnus Chase adventures and Riordan's wider mythology universe.
But Magnus's greatest challenge may not be physical combat.
To defeat Loki, he must learn that intelligence, courage, friendship and the ability to understand his enemies can sometimes be more powerful than any magical weapon.
Rick Riordan combines Norse gods, Viking mythology, action, humour and modern fantasy in the fast-paced storytelling style that made his Percy Jackson books international favourites.
For readers searching for Rick Riordan books, Magnus Chase books in order, Norse mythology books for kids, books like Percy Jackson or middle-grade fantasy adventures, The Ship of the Dead delivers an exciting and satisfying finale.
As Book 3 of Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, it concludes the trilogy begun with The Sword of Summer and continued in The Hammer of Thor.
