Description
Prince Caspian - C. S. Lewis
Prince Caspian by C. S. Lewis is Book 4 of The Chronicles of Narnia, a timeless children's fantasy adventure about courage, loyalty, friendship and the fight to restore a rightful king. Featuring the original illustrations of Pauline Baynes, this classic Narnia story reunites Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie with the magical world they once ruled.
The Pevensie children believe only a short time has passed since their first adventures in Narnia.
But when they are suddenly transported back, they discover that hundreds of years have passed in the Narnian world.
The land they remember has changed dramatically.
Old Narnia – the world of talking animals, dwarfs, centaurs and magical creatures – has been forced into hiding by the Telmarines, whose rulers now control the kingdom.
At the centre of the conflict is Prince Caspian, the true heir to the throne.
After discovering the truth about Narnia's past and his own heritage, Caspian is forced to flee from his uncle King Miraz, who intends to keep control of the kingdom for himself.
Caspian gathers the surviving creatures of Old Narnia and prepares to fight for his rightful crown.
But the rebellion needs help.
The return of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, together with Aslan, brings hope to a land that has almost forgotten its magical past.
The story introduces memorable characters including the courageous mouse Reepicheep and the dwarf Trumpkin, while expanding the history, mythology and political world of Narnia.
C. S. Lewis combines classic fantasy, adventure, battles and magical creatures with themes of faith, leadership, courage and standing up for what is right.
For readers searching for Chronicles of Narnia books in order, C. S. Lewis books, classic children's fantasy, magical adventure stories or books like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian is an essential part of the series.
As Book 4 of 7, it leads directly into Caspian's next great adventure, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
