I Was Born for This - Alice Oseman

I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman is a compelling young adult contemporary novel about fandom, friendship, fame and discovering who you are beyond the things you love.

Angel Rahimi's world revolves around The Ark, a hugely popular pop-rock band. Being part of the fandom has given her friendships, excitement and a sense of belonging. For Jimmy Kaga-Ricci, frontman of The Ark, life looks like a dream from the outside – but fame and constant attention are becoming increasingly difficult to handle.

When Angel and Jimmy's worlds unexpectedly collide, both are forced to confront the difference between the lives they imagined and reality.

Funny, emotional and sharply observed, I Was Born for This explores modern fan culture, identity, friendship, anxiety and the pressures of celebrity. This 2024 edition also includes special bonus content with a new story by Alice Oseman.
